Artist statement
I consider the essence of ceramic is the chemical transition from the clay to the ceramic by calcination.
And because of the variety and diversity of the transition, I think that pottery has still huge potential as a media of art.
All my works are for to answer the question ' What am I? '
My temporary response to the question is that I am the phenomenon and the alternation which are provoked by the elements that construct my self. And this universal perception is the theme of my creation for the moment.
Then the key of my concept is the similarity between one's alternation and the calcination.
I want to express the theme with my work in order to see how I would really change in the process and how the receivers of my work react on it.
Though I look for the answer, I suppose that the final answer to the question is in myself already. I would keep on producing my work until I truly realize and convince myself.
The main aims of my creation is the following;
Creation of contemporary art
- I also would like to work as an artist away from the attachment to Bizen as a traditional craftwork.
I want to express the theme, self existence as phenomenon / alternation, with the representation of chemical transition of calcination.
